Phillips Release New LED Hue Light Bulb

Phillips will soon be release light bulbs that change colors at the control of an IOS or Android app. This is the greatest thing to hit light bulbs since their creation in 1879 by Thomas Edison. These light bulb will be coupled with an application that can control not only the brightness of the bulb, but al the hue of it.

The application will be able to choose not only from a full spectrum of colors, but also from pictures on your device. This is to create a more personalized feel and “relive” some fonder memories. These lights bulbs do seem to be fantastic with 15,000 hour lighting time, and complete customization, so where is the but?

BUT, the starter kit costs $199 for the application, Mini router, and 3 light bulbs. Then for each extra bulb it will cost $59 more! That just seems outrageous, doesn’t it? Lets do the math… Shall we?

Your average two-bedroom apartment will have about 11 lights bulbs in it. With the 3 from the starter kit, and 8 more light bulbs… it comes to a total of $671 to replace all the light bulbs in that one apartment. Although this seems to be a steep price, they do last for 15,000 hours or 15 years of usage. Your price per year is only $44.73 to have some awesome mood lighting! All in all these seem to be a very cool idea for someone as a gift. Look for possible sales this coming holiday season. You can expect to see these go on sale tomorrow, October 30th.

What do you think of these Phillips Hue Light Bulbs? Comment below.

Facebook’s Revenue Turnaround Shows SEO Promise

When Facebook went public back in may of 2012, the stock seemed to have some promise, but since its launch the stock has dropped 39%. Q3 reports that have recently been released are showing a rise in the ad revenue coming from mobile ads. Ad revenue is up 36% from last quarter. Could this been the answer to all our questions about Facebooks longevity?

Facebook isn’t out of the woods yet, but they are most certainly on the right track. Although mobile ads are currently only making up a bout 14% of their overall revenue, it is expect that a large spike in the mobile revenue will be seen due to the release of recent Tablets and HTML5 capable mobile phones.

The release of new features such as, promote your post, has given brands a new way to interact with their fans on Facebook. For a flat rate fee, you can pay to have your post stay at the top of your fans news feed for an extended period of time. This is being coupled with the launch of Advertisement posts now within the news feeds. These are ads created by brands for the purpose of awareness.

Can these new tactics save Facebook for good? Or does the social media giant need to revamp the way they do business? Share your thoughts in the comment section below.

Your Weekend of Sports; US Open, NBA, Euro 2012, and the Chicago Crosstown Classic

With the US Open finishing its second round today, three front-runners have stood out. Jim Furyk, Beau Hossler, and Michael Thompson all sit at -1. With many players still to finish, this is by no means what the standings will look like by the end of the day.

Tiger woods is sitting at +2 currently. Can he pull it together after a impressive 69 on day 1?

In NBA Finals news, The Miami Heat pull a close one out after a late 4th quarter rally by the Oklahoma City Thunder. With a final score of 100-96, LeBron and the Heat hold off Durant’s 32-point display. Westbrook seemed to not even show up last night. After being manhandled by the Heat’s defense, it was no wonder it was a rough one long into the finishing stretch.

Who will pull ahead of this 1-1 tie after Sunday’s 8PM Game 3? Will the Heat keep the burners on the Thunder? Or will Durant and company pull together and come back with a vengeance

In UEFA Euro 2012 action, the group play is coming to an end. With each team having only one game left to play, the front runner seems to be Germany. Germany is the only team to have a lock on the next round.

Saturdays match ups will be Greece Vs. Russia and Czech Republic Vs. Poland. This is a must win game for Russia to advance to bracket play.  As for the Czech Republic and Poland, it can go either way. Poland much win to advance, as the Czech Republic only need a tie to advance. It will be a very exciting day for Euro 2012 Fans. You will be able to catch all of the actions on ESPN syndicated networks.

This weekend marks the second series of the Chicago Crosstown Classic. This time it will be played on the Southside at U.S. Cellular field. With the White Sox taking the first series as a sweep, the Cubs really need to come back strong to not only to save face for the season, but for their North side Chicago fans as well.

It has been a dismal year for Cubs fans, as the Sox have had quite the year. Sitting in 5th place in the AL, while the Cubs are dead last in the NL with no real hopes of making anything happen this year. With the All Star break coming up, it just might be the shock to the system the Cubs need to get something going.

What will you be watching this weekend?

A Storm is Brewing in OKC; The Thunder Are Here To Stay!

Oh man! What a great first game! What else could we expect from two powerhouse teams meeting up in basketball’s greatest championship.

The Oklahoma City Thunder has taken game one away from the Miami Heat in the NBA Finals with a score of 105-94. Is this really a surprise to anyone? Much of the NBA season this year the “Big 3” have not really played well in the clutch. Kevin Durant on the other hand blew up in the forth quarter of game one in the series of seven.

Durant with 36 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists, and 1 block led the Thunder to a forth quarter win. With Westbrook dishing out assist after assist (11 in total), it was no wonder Durant and Westbrook would take over. With a combined 63 points the duo led their team to victory.

The blame can not be solely put onto Lebron James, considering D. Wade had a messily 19 points and shooting 7 of 19 from the field. And for Bosh, it was an extremely poor night. With 10 points; 4-11 from the field, seemed to be not helping. Especially with the 34 minuets of court time he saw. In combo with poor play from the “superstars”, fast break points were the mythical creature of the night. With on 4 in comparison to the Thunders 24. Simply put, the Thunder just out played the Heat.

With Thursday’s match up coming quickly, will the Heat find a way to pull it together? Or will the Durant and Westbrook be stealing some more thunder?

Tune in tonight at 8:00 PM (CT) on ABC to watch The Heat take on the Thunder in Oklahoma City for Game 2 of the NBA Finals.

Apple Does It Again: The release of New products for 2012

During Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference this week, Apple has released information regarding the New retinal display MacBook pro, iOS 6, iPhone 5, OS X Mountain Lion and all the mini updates to go along with the new technology. Most notable is the new version of the MacBook Pro. This is now as stunningly thin as the original MacBook Air. Almost 60% thinner that the original MacBook pro from the early 2000’s.Some say that the new MacBook Pro will be nearly impossible to fix on your own, as well as upgrade on your own. Only time will tell with this, but this Article may lead to some differing opinions.

The iPhone 5 release date has been set at a late September to early October date. The iPhone 5 will boast a faster processor, 1 4-inch display, Payment support, and new Bluetooth options. Also the big news of dropping Google maps from the operating system to add in the new Apple Maps will be a huge movement toward independence for Apple. This will affect Google in the coming week, but who knows how much. What will the new iPhone 5 look like? Many people have created their own renderings of what they think it will look like, but what do you think?

The anticipated new operating system, OS X Mountain Lion will be released in July at the price of $19.99. The main difference will be the integration of Facebook into all of the different applications. Much like twitter has already been done in previous updates. This obviously took longer due to the amount of integration software needed for the ever-changing social media platform.

What about Apple TV? And the iPad 3? What will these products be doing in the up coming months? I guess we will all have to wait until October for the big Keynote address from apple. What is your most anticipated product Apple has on its burners? Comment Below!

The long awaited second album from Mumford & Sons has finally received a release date. In a recent interview with rolling stones magazine, Marcus Mumford stated they have just recently completed the album, and listeners should expect to have something in stores mid September.

Marcus was quoted in saying, “Nothing’s really changed in our dynamic as a band. We write songs together and they’re very much based in our experiences. The instruments are pretty much the same, except for a few we’ve picked up along the way. For the most part, it’s a progression. We don’t want to reinvent ourselves.”

The band has also created a song for the new Pixar movie, Brave. This is the newest animated film that follows a young girl battling with he responsibilities as Princess and the need to be an adventurous girl.

Moonrise Kingdom: Another Wes Anderson Instant Classic

This past weekend I was fortunate enough to see the new Wes Anderson Movie, Moonrise Kingdom. With a stunning cast of Bruce Willis, Edward Norton, Bill Murray, Frances McDommand, Tilda Swinton, Jason Schwartzman, and Bob Balaban it was no wonder as to how this would turn out.

This film is set on an island off the coast of New England in the year 1965. Two children meet at an island musical, where they exchange contact information. They plan a get away together at the mature age of 12 years old. Sam, played by Jared Gilman, and Suzy, Played by Kara Hayward, run away together at the dismay of their parents and scouting troop. In typical Wes Anderson fashion; the characters run into many pit falls along the way that creates a last bond between the two. Sam is a part of a scouting troop that is much like the modern day Boy Scouts, and Suzy is part of a family that does not understand her. The feelings these two share throughout the movie can be felt by all.

Wes Anderson is most known for his writing and directing of Bottle Rocket, Rushmore, The Royal Tenenbaums, The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou, The Darjeeling Limited, Fantastic Mr. Fox, and now Moonrise Kingdom.

Moonrise Kingdom deserves 4.5/5 Stars in my opinion. This is a fast-ish pace move that wraps up in just 90 Minutes. The Star Studded cast will have you wanting more from the film. Maybe a possible Sequel? Or is that too far fetched for Mr. Anderson?

Moonrise Kingdom Trailer!
